I just can't wait any longer to watch the movie... of course, it will take ages to hit the cinemas in Mexico.
A while ago I did an essay about Coco Chanel for my french class; it amazed me to read her biography... there were a lot of things I did not know about this strong, independent woman.. suddenly I felt so identified with her, (and not only because she liked to dress as a boy).
About her:
1. She was born in a poorhouse; she lived in an orphanage until the age of 7; that's where she learned how to sew.
2. At 18 she left the orphanage and took up work for a local tailor.
3. She started out designing hats as a hobby, later on she opened her first shop, selling mainly raincoats and jackets; really fashionable ones!
4. She had a lot of lovers, but never wanted to get married. "Coco had affairs with some of the most influential men at the time but she never married which she explained with the words 'There have been several Duchesses of Westminster. There is only one Chanel' (when asked why she did not marry Duke of Westminster for example)".
5. She gave us the little black dress, the Chanel suit, the bell bottoms and l'eau de parfum No. 5.. thank you!

Quotes from her..
"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening"
"Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury"
"Where should one use perfume?" a young woman asked. "Wherever one wants to be kissed," I said"
