tournee du chat noir

Yesterday, I was home alone doing some sewing.. it was already dark outside; my dog was on the back yard and suddenly started barking really really hard; which is very unlikely of him. A second later the door bell rang, I asked on the intercom who it was but got no answer, I peeked from the living room window and saw no one outside, finally I opened the door just to check if I had missed someone, but nope... not a single person outside.

As I was about to turn around and get back in the house, I saw something on the sidewalk but the fence was blocking my view, so I went down there, opened the fence and a black cat was sitting there, just outside; staring at me with his scary yellowish eyes.

Did he managed to somehow get my door bell to ring?

This kind of things make me wonder... how is is possible the door bell rang and the only thing I found outside was a cat.. not even one person on the block.. and even if there was, I went outside almost immediately, I could have easily seen someone running away or heard a car start or some kids laughing next door feeling proud of their joke.

Is the black cat some sort of a sign?
...some mystical force trying to warn me about the bad luck I'm about to have?

Is the black cat in fact a person that can transform into animal shapes?.. just teasing and pulling pranks on people for its personal amusement?

Was it a really small kid dressed in a black cat costume asking for trick or treat a month early from Halloween?

Does the cat need something?

After having a lot of stuff going on rapidly through my head, I found myself talking to this cat..literally!.. I could almost see him answering me:
"Hello neighbour, I just ran out of milk.. do you think you can pour me a small glass just so I can get to sleep?"

It's weird how this ridiculous things get so far away inside my delusional head.

forever child

Have you ever realized that some things you used to really love and cherish in your memory suddenly feel dull, become boring or just loose its main attractive?

Many times I've gotten extremely excited when one of the movies I used to watch over and over as a kid, appears on TV. I get happy, I sit down, I start watching it........... 10 to 15 minutes later I just want to turn it off and do something else, feeling sad and failed.

This has also happened with some of my favorite games, comics or even places. It's really sad to see something that once made you smile turn into something as dead as a rock. There's no spark, the light's run out.. you realize once again, you're not a kid anymore, those days are over... you have adult stuff to worry about.

Maybe that's why I've always tried to keep up my childish spirit alive; I've tried really hard not to grow up and mature, haha you can ask my mom about this, it's true. But some how, a person eventually becomes old and must embrace what that age has to offer.

No more pajama parties with all your best friends, no more candy, ice cream or Ding Dongs every 4 hours of the day, no more Jetsons, X-Men, Thundercats or Josie and the Pussycats will amuse you THAT much, no more hide and seek games....

But then again, one must not delete EVERY single thing kids do... for instance, I still watch cartoons from time to time, I love Disney Movies and own a bunch, I'm still obsessed with the Little Mermaid; I still play sports outside, I still do some phone pranks from time to time... all of this is because I want to keep my childish spirit alive... at least a bit.

On my birthday, 2 weeks ago, I decided to go to Disneyland with all my family; not friends, family.. like good old days. So we went, and you know what, I had a blast. Disney is honestly the happiest place on earth.. no matter how old you are, it's just super fun, exciting, amusing, entertaining and joyful. All those rides, movie characters parading around, good food, really delicious candy!, great stuff sold in stores, healthy workout by walking all day through that park, the splash mountain ride picture, the musical parade, etc....

At the end of the day I realized.. not every thing's lost; not everything from my childhood memories has become obsolete to do now; there are still somethings that I think, will always remain untouched.

zebra-pard!

Ok, ok.. "zebra-pard" might sound like a bad joke for this post, I just love to mix words to create a single one that defines something that hasn't been named.

Here are some pictures of the latest bag I made; I think I finished it like 3 weeks ago, stuck it in my drawer and forgot about it haha.. I had some left over fabrics and couldn't decide if I wanted a zebra print or a leopard print bag; and then I thought, why not both?
I liked how it turned out actually.. a little bit of both animals "skin" adds an edgy touch to whatever I'm wearing when I decide to take this little purse out.

I decided to make a big bow on the front and sewed some sequin details in black too. The inside of the bag is all leopard print and the rest of the bag, as well as it's back side is just plain black satin fabric.

The strap is a silver chain which can be taken off really easy; sometimes you just need a little clutch, don't you think?

What do you guys think?

little pieces of art

It was about time for me to hang all these pictures and paintings in my room... I've had them for so long inside my closet just piling up dust... at last.. they will fulfill their mission, which is to be hanging on the walls, exposing themselves as great pieces of art.
This next picture of The Beatles was a gift from my dad.

These 3 I bought a month ago in San Diego. Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein are 2 of my favorite artists... they created a new kind of art; they took ordinary things and turned them into masterpieces... I just love them and love their work.
The one in the middle is one of my favorite paintings, Le Chat Noir by Steinlen.
(I'm sorry for my lack of photography skills, I couldn't do anything to prevent that flash light from the picture)

Another smaller picture of The Beatles...

The next "document" or "certificate" was a gift for my 19th birthday I think (long, long time ago!)... a friend of mine pulled a Landon Carter's stunt from the movie "A Walk to Remember" and decided to buy a star and name it after me.. how cool is that!?.. Now I know there's a star somewhere in the universe that is watching over me.

A little bit of Monet never hurts the eye...

sweet dreams are made of this

Do you tend to day dream?

Do you actually go away to places inside your mind and disconnect from reality for a while?
I do.
I do it all the time, I just can’t help it.

My imagination goes beyond this world, seriously. Many times I’ve found myself "creating" situations out of nothing and “living” them inside my mind; I even think about what I’d say, what the other people involved would say, what we’d do, what we’d wear, where we’d be…. And then something snaps and I come back to this world and realize it was all a day dream.
I’m nuts aren’t I?

Ha ha, I just think there’s so much more than what we simple mortals know… I wish there was more.. I at least have the dream of it.
Besides, with all this fictional movies, how can you expect me not to dwell between what’s reality and what’s fantasy.

Imagine a world with flying dragons, talking trees, town wizards, little elves, 4 moons, animals behaving like humans, sword fights and of course; us girls wearing beautiful gowns like princesses…. That’d be an interesting life to lead every day, don’t you think?

But then again, there’s probably a reason why all those things aren’t real, at least not in this world, not in this lifetime… what it is real is our power to imagine things, to fantasize, to travel inside our minds into wonderful things; that’s how people develop great stories, that’s how great songs were written, that’s how artists came up with their art pieces, that’s how designers visualize scenarios, clothes or any object really; that’s the great part of living… being able to dream and aim for those things to come true.

Sex is back in the City!

The fantastic four are back in the city and looking as gorgeous as they usually do.

I found some of the first pictures of the shooting on New York City, I wonder when will the movie be ready to hit the theaters... can't wait!

How cool are these new Dr. Martens!!!

I just saw them on Nylon magazine and had to make a quick stop on my blog and post this. Dr. Martens just paired up with Nintendo to develop these rocking boots, featuring a new design on the back of the traditional boot. The guitar's silhouette comes in different colors.

These rocking docs will be hitting the stores on November, stay tuned...

BALMAIN be mine!

BALMAIN WINTER 2009

BALMAIN's Spring 2009 collection was my favorite this year... looking at the pictures above, there's no doubt he scored it again on the winter collection; I absolutely adore it!
Can't wait for winter to come...

summer's almost gone

It's sad to see the end of something loved.
Summer is coming to an end now... soon Autumn will take its place.
No more sunny days, no more beach getaways; no more ice cream, flip flops, bikini bottoms or floral scents.. they're all going away.
But I won't be sad; I'll kiss it goodbye and wait until next year to see it again.
Let's say hello to Autumn, hello to winter time; let's embrace all the wonderful things she has... after all, I can't wait to start wearing my new leather jacket, boots and cashmere hat!
