urban renewal: braided shorts

Inspired by lovely style icon Kate Bosworth, I decided to turn my old Hollister levis into stylish shorts. In the picture above, Kate's wearing levis shorts with a crossed seam detail on the sides; I decided to do kind of the same thing on my new shorts.

beach body
This is a sketch I drew long time ago... finally I'm able to turn it into something real.
I've just started with bathing suits.. yes.. I am learning to make bathing suits, bikinis, thongs and all kinds of beach wear.
I first started with a one piece suit, so I decided to get some inspiration of one of my favorite muses.. Marilyn Monroe. Her curvy and voluptuous figure looked great in everything she wore, but mostly I remember a picture of her wearing a one piece black swim suit, heart shaped on the upper side and kind of boy short on the other end. This is how mine turned out.. just like the one I drew on the picture above.
My sister got a summer job in Playa del Carmen, Can Cun, Mexico... I'm so envious, that place is paradise... I gave her the swim suit as a gift... I'm hoping she sends me some pictures to post in here.
Who's going away for vacations?

all aboard!

Pictures from the bachelorette party I hosted in my house last Saturday.
Everything went great.. we had a blast. The outfit I made for the bachelorette fit her perfectly, she was so surprised, she had no idea. I also made my outfit and I absolutely loved the top, I'm pretty pleased with my work.

currently working on...

work keeps poping up... I must finish this dress by Tuesday... It will be worn on Friday by the birthday girl.
At first I designed it for me, I bought the fabrics and everything... but I never found the time to get on it, then a friend saw the sketch and begged me to do it for her.. she made and offer I couldn't refuse... I'm actually flattered she liked it that much, I'll have to design something different for me later...
Ciao.

girl interrupted

"Have you ever confused a dream with life?
.. or stolen something when you have the cash?
Have you ever been blue?
.. or thought your train moving while sitting still?
Maybe I was just crazy... maybe it was th 60's
.. or maybe I was just a girl interrupted."

"I know what it's like to want to die. How it hurts to smile. How you try to fit in but you can't. How you hurt yourself on the oustide, to try to kill the thing on the inside."

"Borderline Personality Disorder. An instability of self-image, relationships and mood, uncertain about goals, impulsive in activities that are self damaging, such as casual sex. Social contrariness and generally pessimistic attitude are often observed.
Well that's me."
"Was I ever crazy?.. maybe. Or maybe life is.
Crazy isn't being broken or swallowing a dark secret. It's you or me amplified. If you ever told a lie and enjoyed it. If you ever wished you could be a child forever. They were not perfect, but they were my friends, and by the 70's most of them were out living lives. Some I've seen, some never again, but there isn't a day my heart doesn't find them."
But not with you. Not with you".
GIRL INTERRUPTED
1999
On 1999, Winona Ryder gave life to one of my favorite female characters of all time, Miss Susanna Kaysen in Girl Interrupted. A story about a magnificent girl that spent 2 years in a mental institution battling with herself and the world around her. She didn't fit in, she didn't want to follow anyone's footsteps, whe felt alone, she was lost, she wanted to die and at the same time wanted to live, but didn't know how. She discovered herself in that mental institution.
Sometimes, I can't help but feel identyfied with her; scary I know, because she was some what crazy, she had a mental disease... but then again, who doesn't?, who's normal?, who sets what is normal and what is not?.... I have issues I know, and I don't care.. everyone does in a different way. Susanna Kaysen inspires me and helps me feel I'm not alone.
What a blast it would have been to live in the 60's...

sailor moon
I'm currently working on a bachelorette party costume.. the theme: "ALL ABOARD TO THE LOVE BOAT: only sexy sailors allowed".
I don't know you, but in Mexico.. actually in the northern region of Mexico.. it's a costum to throw dress-up bachelorette parties. We plan the surprise party, we choose a theme, we send out invitations with the dress code according to the theme and we all have a blast in different costumes.. of course, the bachelorette must have the coolest costume, she has to shine the most.
In two weeks we'll be throwing a bachelorette party in my house and we're already working on the decorations with fake anchors, life savers, lighthouses, boats.. and of course.. a simulation of the Titanic crashing into a gigantic iceberg.. that'll make a cool photo background. Anyway.. I'm in charge of the main costume.. this is a sketch of what I have in mind for my bachelorette friend.. I already started it.. although I've added different things to make it more noticeable.. more extravagant, more Gaga... puffy sleeves were obviously added.

purple rain
Hi.. lack of posts.. lack of posts I know.. but haven't had time to do anything lately other than school homework and work... I need vacations!!!!!!
Lucky for me I sold another dress from my catalogue.. it's from the "open back series".. as the name says it.. they all have open back or some sort of distinctive detail in the back.. I think that's the sexiest part in a woman's body.. we must show it off!
The dress is available in any color but my girl picked purple as the one in the drawing above.. the fabric is stretch satin and the metal zipper on the back is optional.. personally I love metal zippers showing off, but I've come across a few people that don't like them at all.
Anyway.. remember the dress I sold last week? the black and white stripped one with also an open back?... I didn't have time to take pictures.. it looked great honestly.. and the girl that bought it is super extremely skinny and tall so she had no problem looking great on lycra fabric.. I will stalk her facebook until I see some pictures of her wearing that dress on a night out and then.. I'll post them and succeed!
Other updates in my boring life:
-My boyfriend Rafael Nadal won Roland Garros tournament and is once again the #1 tennis player in the world. (Sorry Fed!).
-Sex and the city 2 rocks even more than the first one.
-Red wine as the first drink/meal of the day at noon is a bad choice.
-CFDA Awards.. who won?.. must check up on that!
-Lady Gaga's new video was not what I expected but still I love her.
That's all.. I've got a lot of homework to do.. final projects need me or otherwise they will stay there unfinished.. if only those suckers could manage to work for themselves!
Stay cool...

drawing room: boys like girls and girls like flirting
.jpg)
This is a sketch I made while ago.. I actually started that dress but haven't been able to finish it.. I must get back to it as soon as I finish school.. I've got a million things I want to make but once again.. I can't find the time to do anything since I started with my sewing madness!.. but still.. I must admit.. I can't stop, I love it.
I'm officially addicted to my sewing machine; is there a support group for this?
Stay cool people.

versace spring-summer 2010

I've never been a fan of Versace brand, actually I almost never really liked anything they designed, maybe it's just not my style... but anyway, this year I absolutely loved the entire collection. It's seems they kind of went on a slightly different direction, maybe they wanted to explore a different style which I think was a total hit.
Mixed and geometric prints, different textures and fabrics, a retro wave and an explosion of vivid pastel colors is what I loved about this year's Versace's ready-to-wear spring/summer collection.
Donatella Versace said she'd been inspired by Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, "I loved the idea of that fantasyland", she said.
My particular favorite is this next yellow dress.... gorgeous!
