trend report: statement swimsuits
Summer’s just around the corner, but the sun, the beach, the pool parties and iced piña coladas are already waiting for us; have you chosen the perfect swimsuit for the occasion?Swimsuits don’t actually follow the same cycle as regular clothes do; the good thing about them is that they rarely go out of fashion; whether it is a full piece, a bikini or monokini, you’ll mostly be safe no matter the season. But of course, it can’t hurt to indulge on a new swim suit right?
This year, designers got inspired with current fashion trends for their swimwear collections as well; so if you’re looking for the trendiest bikini out there, make sure it fits under the next styles: vintage inspired, crochet, cut-outs, ruffles and prints.

Blake Lively showed up at Marchesa's Fall 2011 after-show dinner during Mercedes Fashion Week wearing this orange pastry. She's been spotted wearing Marchesa many times before, seems she really is a huge fan of the brand, and who wouldn't?... the collections are divine every season.

inspiration: roland garros 2011

Love tennis.. I look forward to each ATP Masters every year.. right now it is Roland Garros's time in Paris, France... wish I could go someday.
Anyway.. every year, tennis players seem to dress a bit more trendy and fashionable at the courts; and though some of them stick to their sponsor labels such as Nike, Adidas, Lacoste, among others.... they still manage to wear really cute sporty outfits.
All of this always gets me in the mood of sketching some tennis outfits on my own...

the look: chloe sevigny
Chloe Sevigny rocks the white lace dress every time she wears it... though this time seems she opt for white shoes instead of black chunky booties and it looks really cool as well. Chloe wore an Opening Ceremony white lace dress and shoes with socks! ...and a black leather jacket on top to the CO-OP Food & Drink at the Hotel on Rivington in New York last week.

trend report: tribal

One of the trends that cannot be missed every summer is the tribal print. Its appearance on each year’s spring/summer collections has been growing more and more, and not only that, but evolving as well. It seems that designers keep searching for tribal prints that are more colorful, indigenous and earthy; last year it was all about neon tribal prints and acid hues, this season it’s about channeling Mother Nature.
Etro, Diane Von Furstenberg, Anna Sui, Cavalli, Iceberg, Missoni are only some of the designers that featured gorgeous pieces in tribal prints; though they all got their inspiration in different civilizations, they made it modern and fun. From head to toe, you can mix different tribal prints or wear them as a unique piece on your outfit: pants, dress, skirts or a top, you decide. When in doubt, pair them with neutrals, black never fails.

Fergie arrived to the 2011 Billboard Music Awards wearing an incredibly cool Hervé Léger by Max Azria Atelier dress that showed off that hot body of hers.

trend report: colorful pants

Color has been popping out everywhere we go, and not just tops dresses or skirts; pants as well. As members of the color block trend, the colorful pants are quickly becoming a must-have in our spring/summer wardrobes and why not? They do look amazing on any occasion.
You can find these pants in any color and any type of shape: skinny jeans, cigarette pants, trousers, bell bottoms or wide leg trousers that go all the way to the floor. The only thing you need to do is pick the one you like and suits you the most.

the look: L.A.M.B.

L.A.M.B. went couture and a very chic one that is!
Gwen Steffani arrived to the AmFar's Cinema against AIDS Gala in a design of her own, a gorgeous black mermaid dress, paired with a purple clutch by Roger Vivier.
I'm digging the whole rocker look gone haute couture, don't you?
united colors
(wearing a blue t-shirt by GUESS, white tank top by LEVIS, red skinny jeans and caramel brown oxfords from Forever 21)
I'm wearing your favorite color,
I'm wearing my favorite color,
and I'm wearing white between them,
like if it was a white dove to bring peace among us.
The blue waves crash into the red sand every minute...
the sea gathers as much sand as he can and takes it deep down,
but what would he do with it?
why keep the red sand apart from its kind?
the sea should let her be, as the sand lets him be..
as a white dove flies free in the sky,
we should both be free in peace.

I wrapped my head with gold... with some hope it will shine and direct your eyes into mine..
(wearing a black asymmetrical dress and golden turban made by me, purple heels from Charlotte Russe, bracelets and rings from forever 21, leopard print clutch made by me)
I was totally channeling the 60s last night.. I wore a black asymmetrical dress I made, purple heels, leopard print clutch, lots of gold rings, bangles and bracelets and a turban in gold as well... which I also made.
I felt like Diana Ross all night long.

inspiration: turban

I'm finding a lot of inspiration on the retro turban today... it's one of the most fashionable trends from the 60s and 70s... and though it is making a comeback now... I don't think many women dare try it... I've worn turbans and really love it, specially now that I'm letting my hair grow back again and it is not growing as pretty as I thought.
I'm gonna make myself a turban in gold for a party I've got tonight... I'll pair it up with a black one shoulder dress I made last week, purple heels, cute purple/green clutch with gold accents, gold jewerly and a bottle of red wine.... I'll post pictures tomorrow.. meanwhile take a look at these fab ladies rocking the turban trend.
