it's dark and tormented

I am eternally, devastatingly romantic, and I thought people would see it because ‘romantic’ doesn’t mean ‘sugary.’ It’s dark and tormented — the furor of passion, the despair of an idealism that you can’t attain.

nothingness

As if to build a fence around the fatal emptiness inside her, she had to create a sunny person that she became. But if you peeled away the ornamental egos that she had built, there was only an abyss of nothingness and the intense thirst that came with it. Though she tried to forget it, the nothingness would visit her periodically - on a lonely rainy afternoon, or at dawn when she woke up from a nightmare. What she needed at such times was to be held by someone, anyone.

trend report: safari

Africa will become the most popular continent this summer, so prepare yourselves for a safari because the ride is about to start.

(Michael Kors SS2012)

Far from Indiana Jones’s khaki safari suits; this trend brings us sensual animal, tribal and ethnic prints in different range of colors; not to mention leather accessories, feathers and fringes.

 (Just Cavalli SS2012)

Fashion designers took this look on to another dimension; Michael Kors and Giambattista Valli gave a new meaning to tribal; Just Cavalli added its always sensuous touch to the printed vaporous dresses; and Paul & Joe presented a very contemporary proposal with basic colors and innovative silhouettes.

Venture into the exotic magic of this exuberant continent.

drawing room: girly, huh?

A guy told me the other day that I was a "girly" girl... me, a girly girl... I can't imagine what he thinks of people that dress in florals, ruffles, pastel colors and wear bows or coach flats and bags.... I'm still tripping on the idea.. don't get me wrong, I have nothing against girly girls.. my sisters are super girly and femenin when it comes to dressing up and doing their hair and stuff... I just never thought of myself being like that too...

I'm gonna shave my entire head now.. maybe half of it wasn't enough...

there's a rave party on the moon and all the planets are invited

Hey guys...
sorry for the lack of attention to the blog, I've just been so caught up on work.

I've been sewing constantly because I'm working on a new collection I'm about to present on June 9th at a local event, so there is very little time for me to finish up. I've spent the last 2 week-ends in my atelier, working from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m... no kidding!... I haven't partied or anything at all, but that hasn't stopped me from a squeezing in a few glasses of red wine while at it; actually I think I'm mastering the art of sewing under alcohol influence... which is an awesome skill to add to my list.

Anyway.. I won't talk much about the collection, I don't want to spoil it.. but I'm only gonna say  that my inspiration is "there's a rave party on the moon and all the planets are invited"... so you'll see lots of cosmic and galactic party dresses for a girl from every planet... does it sound good to you? oh I hope so.

drawing room: losing her mind

must-have: full mOOn sunglasses

Sunglasses have been around for decades and though their main purpose is to protect the eyes from bright sunlight, we have got to admit they’ve become a fashion statement.

During spring/summer 2012 fashion shows, a lot of sunglasses accompanied different outfits; some designers went for the cat eye, others for plastic and colorful ones and even the Lolita (1962)  inspired heart-shaped sunglasses appeared at Jeremy Scott’s runway.

But one of the major comebacks in sunglasses this year are the round spectacles; as seen on John Lennon back in the sixties and seventies, these circle-shaped specs are definitely the season’s must-have accessory.

Need more inspiration to own the look? check out these characters with epic round sunglasses...

florence welch meets frida kahlo

You must know I'm seriously digging this photo... Florence Welch paying tribute to one of my biggest inspirations: Frida Kahlo. This photo was taken in a mexican restaurant at Las Vegas.

Look closely at the image, the walls are filled with her portraits and paintings.. I think I'm on a new mission, which is getting my room or studio or any wall in my house to look like that.

Feel free to send me Frida Kahlo portraits, paintings, magnets or postage stamps for the collection. :)

This is what Florence said about Frida in an interview by LAS VEGAS SUN:

-D.C.:  What do you like to do when you’re in Las Vegas? You mentioned onstage that you were downtown.

-F.W.: Yeah, we went downtown, we went to a vintage store. It was amazing! I managed to find a Mexican restaurant, which had all these pictures of Frida Kahlo everywhere. I am obsessed with her. It was like finding Frida. It was magical.

-D.C.: What do you like about Frida? How do you relate to her?

-F.W.: I love her style, and I think she captured so much strength and fragility in her portraits and the quandary of being feminine and mixing up these ideas of masculine and feminine and the real and the unreal and the pain. She was an amazing artist.
